Diamonds Entertain Independent Schools Football Association

Last Tuesday saw Rushden & Diamonds entertain the English Independent Schools Football Association Squads at both Under 16 and Under 18 Age groups.

Both fixtures were arranged to enable the EISFA to play here at Nene Park and for us to use the fixtures as an opportunity for ourselves.

Both the Under 16 and Under 18 Squads from Rushden involved trialist players and playing them enabled us to make some useful decisions.

Both fixtures were played in a great manner and proved well worthwhile exercises and we would like to thank Steve Long for arranging the teams to visit Nene Park, which we hope they enjoyed.

Results were not the importance aspect of the day, but assessing players was, however both games resulted in wins for the Diamonds.

The Under 16's recorded a narrow 1-0 victory, with the Under 18's hitting six without reply in their game, therefore resulting in a 6-0 victory.

SCOTT WARK

Hit a Hat-Trick in the 6-0 Victory.

Both games saw all the four seasons in the 90 minutes, with the sun, wind, rain and snow in attendance so it was interesting how the players reacted to this during the play.

Marc Tracy commented, "Both games were certainly great opportunities for us to view players

And has enabled us to make some final decisions".

"We extend our thanks to Steve Long and his team from the English Independent Schools Association for bringing their national sides to us for the afternoon to play. I hope they enjoyed attending and from the feedback we have received I believe it was a great success".
