Diamonds Youth Team squad continued their programme of pre-season friendlies with a 4-0 win over Solihull Moors on Pitch 2 at Nene Park, although the game had to be abandoned after 77 minutes as a torrential downpour made playing conditions impossible.

Diamonds fielded ten first year scholars, with keeper James Broadbent the only second year in the starting eleven. Two goals in the opening twenty minutes put Diamonds in a commanding position - Dom Brennan adding to an early own goal. Just before the half time interval, Femi Solesi headed home a third.

Midfielder Charlie Desmond produced a well struck effort on 61 minutes to put Diamonds four up, before the introduction of several of the 2nd year scholars. As the sky darkened and the heavens opened, both teams continued to play for another ten minutes before the conditions deteriorated even further and the referee decided to bring the game to an early conclusion with thirteen minutes still to play.
