Brackley Youth 2 - 4 R&DFC Youth

Posted on: Fri 19 Feb 2010

Rushden & Diamonds Youth Team won 4-2 away at Brackley on Monday night in the Northamptonshire FA Under 18 Boys Cup.

2 goals came from Lewis Wilson, 1 from Liam Read and 1 from under 16 Femi Solasi.

Youth Team Manager Paul Driver reported: It was a good performance to take us into the semi-finals. We started with five Under 16's, we had seven on by the end of the game so we stuck with the young side that got us so far.

It was an excellent first half, the best football that group has played on a superb surface at Brackley.

The Young side tired a bit in the second half and they got back into it, however near the end Femi wrapped it up with a good finish.

Driver commented "It was a similar quality to the FA Youth Cup, so excellent for those lads to get that kind of experience under their belts 6 months early. Brackley were superb, we were impressed with the players, the surface, the attitude and friendliness of everyone at the club - we'll be looking to link up with them in pre-season for some friendlies."

The Diamonds Youth Team will face one of: Corby Town, Rothwell Corinthians/Northampton Town or Rothwell Town/Daventry Town in the semi-finals.
