Rushden & Diamonds Youth Team, containing a number of the younger players and Under 16s won 2-0 away at Roade on Sunday in the Northamptonshire FA Boys Under 18 Cup.

The two goals coming from Lewis Wilson and Jake Gillingwater.

Head of Youth Paul Driver commented "On Sunday we made more changes, I think in the end we used 25 players for the 3 games last week, we brought all the under 16s in and for the game at Roade.

We won 2-0, Wilson and Gillingwater got the goals in a 5 minute spell just before half time in very difficult conditions with all the rain on Saturday, hats off to Roade who I thought were superb, the hospitality, everything about the club was brilliant and did their hardest to get the game on and I felt sorry for them for the state of the pitch at the end of it because it was hard enough to walk on let alone play football.

So a pat on the back for the 16s again, Jerry Nash was superb in centre mid, I thought Max Harrodine at centre back did a good job as well, Kyle in goal, so all in all a good week, we'll just wait and see who we get in the next round of that and whoever we get, it'll remain a competition for the 16/17 year olds to see what they can do as a preparation for when they're in the youth cup in a years time."
