St Albans City Youth 0 - 3 R&DFC Youth

Posted on: Thu 10 Dec 2009

On Friday the Youth Team beat St Albans City 3-0 at St Albans in the Football Conference Youth Alliance

The goals came from Anthony Stockman, and Liam Read (2)

Head of Youth Paul Driver commented, "It was excellent, they were a very organised side containing all bar one of the players that got them through to the Second Round Proper of the FA Youth Cup beating Colchester on the way and only getting done on penalties by Wycombe.

So they were very strong and obviously after I put a strong side out on Wednesday, I made seven changes, bringing the younger players in and they've done really well and continued the excellent development with that group in the last 6 weeks.

Goals from Stockman from a Lewis Wilson cross. Wilson was the pick of the bunch, absolutely outstanding on the right hand side of midfield and he set up the goal for that. Liam Read got 2, one a penalty making it 2-0 at half time, after Shields was fouled and wrapped it up in injury time making it 3-0.

An absolutely excellent performance all round from the youngsters and it's great that you can make seven changes and go to that strong a side and come away with a 3-0 victory."
