Ipswich Town CT 2 - 6 R&DFC Youth

Monday 9th October 2009

Football Conference Youth Alliance - League Cup

Goalscorers: Nabil Shariff (3), Sean Shields, Connor Hayes, George Cox

Paul Driver gave us a summary of the Youth Team's League Cup Victory on Monday night

"A very laboured 6-2, we started very well, two up in 10 minutes. I think we then thought it was going to be too easy, we didn't deal with their direct approach, we didn't take chances. We went in 2-1 up at half time.

Our second goal deserves mention, it started with Matty Evans, nice little bit of interplay Hallford and Cox, over the other side to Easlea and then back in to Sean Shields who lobbed the keeper. That was as good a footballing goal as we've scored all season. Maybe we thought it would be a bit easy, they got a penalty about 15 minutes into the second half to make it 2-2, between which we had had chances. Then after that Ipswich hit their pinnacle really, they ran out of steam and we got four goals in the last quarter of the game, in the end it was easy enough."
