Paul Driver: We've got to have confidence

Posted on: Tue 03 Nov 2009

It's a big one, against Northampton - a chance for revenge after last year's loss?

Well from our point of view there is no hate so there is no need to get revenge - it's a good rivalry. From our side there's a couple of reasons we want to win, one that we did get beaten last year, they felt that they earnt more from the game - that'll hopefully spur them on, to look for a little bit of an added incentive to come through. A lot of our boys are local, so seven or eight of our starting line-up would have been playing against Northampton three or four years ago as under 13's or 14's - we'd hope that that might just add that little spark to what we do.

We've got to be confident, we've won 4 games already in the competition, we haven't let a goal in, we've beaten a respectable side out of their league in Luton, so we've got to have that confidence.

Hopefully people turn up in good numbers in the stadium (The North Stand is open)

I see it as a case where we win our qualifying games on pitch 2 and we earn the right to play in the stadium. We're making it a night where the Centre of Excellence kids will come down so they see what they're aiming at - whether it be in 9 years time or 2 years time. So hopefully a few of those will turn out, we've switched it to a Monday to avoid Champions League clashes in the hope that we can get a few down there and from both clubs point of view if we can get a decent spectacle on it benefits both clubs really.
