Diamond Minors' End of Season Update

Posted on: Thu 12 May 2011

The following update was due to have appeared in the Kidderminster programme.

Welcome to all of the junior fans both from here at Nene Park and of those of you who have travelled with the away fans from Kidderminster. We all hope you have had a lovely Easter especially with all the chocolate that you must have been given .

Aaron O'Connor and Jordan Freeman

Well who can believe that this is the last home game of this season 2010/2011. So much has happened this season its hard to know where to begin. This year has been the most challenging year that I personally can remember (as I've only been involved for the last six years). Losing Dale Roberts was such a big blow to the club. Everyone has been affected - obviously family and friends of Dale, but it has been really hard for the players and for the management of Rushden & Diamonds. I am really proud of how after such a tragedy you as a team have found the strength and courage to all stand united and come out to play football, and taking all things into consideration we should consider our team as the winners of the Blue Square Premiership league. RIP Dale - your team did you proud.

Thank you to all the Diamond Minors that have come to get stamps put on their stamp cards. If you have not handed them in yet don't worry as we don't need them back until the beginning of the next season (2011/2012). The stamp card prize draw won't take place until October half term at a "Meet the players event", but this still needs to be confirmed, and we will let all our members know in plenty of time so hopefully you can all make it. Thanks to Paul Driver, Justin Edinburgh and all the players for making this such a special event. If you're not a Diamond Minor you can come along to the Cabin and pick up a form - it only costs five pounds to join our exclusive club.

The rota will still be going next season for a Diamond Minor member to carry the 50/50 results board around the perimeter of the pitch at half time - this has proved really popular.

A big congratulations to the youth team who have won the final of the Midland Youth Cup against Chesterfield by 3-2. It was such a great game, nail biting at times. It was nice to see so many people supporting our lads. What a fantastic achievement not only for our youth team but also for Mark Starmer, all the coaches and for Rushden & Diamonds FC. Another nice piece of silverware for the cabinet.

Being a Diamond Minor you have the chance to vote for your favourite player of the month, and its nice to see not only different players being presented with their trophies, but also different Minors giving the trophies out. It is actually that time of year when you the Diamond Minors have been voting for player of the season, and I'm delighted to announce that the Diamond Minor player of the season is .......................................

Aaron O'Connor.

Well done Aaron. The Diamond Minor member whose name was pulled out of the hat was Jordan Freeman. Jordan will be presenting Aaron with his trophy after today's game in the Kimberley Suite.

For all our Diamond Minors that are celebrating a Birthday in April,May ,June and July have a lovely time .

Wishing you all a lovely summer break and lets continue to support our team until the end of season. So come on let's make lots of noise, and let the team know that we are here just for them.

See you all soon.
From all of the Diamond Minor committee.

P.S. There are a few events during the summer that you can all come and suport us at . The first one is at the Oundle Carnival. This year they have decided to hold it over both Saturday 18th June and Sunday June 19th 2011.
