Goalkeeper Nathan Abbey was signed by the Diamonds in mid-September 2009, aged 31
He was out of contract having been released by MK Dons in May 2009.
He started his career with Luton Town, joining Chesterfield in 2001. He has also played for Northampton Town, Stevenage Borough, St Albans City, Hayes, Boston United and Bristol City. In 2006, Abbey was goalkeeper at Torquay United, later playing for Brentford prior to joining the MK Dons.
He made his Diamonds debut on 19th September 2009, keeping a clean sheet in the 1-0 win against Mansfield Town.
After appearing 14 times in a Diamonds shirt, including 11 games in the Blue Square Premier he left the club in December 2009 when his contract was not renewed.
