Defender Michael Corcoran joined Rushden & Diamonds from Oxford United mid-way through the 2007 / 08 season. After impressing during the remainer of that season the Diamonds took out the extension option on his contract to retain him for the 2008 / 09 season.
Corcoran started his career at Cardiff City, working up through the youth system and becoming an Under-21 international player for Northern Ireland before moving to Oxford, initially on loan, and then signing permanently at the Kassam Stadium in May 2007. In the first part of the 2007 / 08 season, he made 14 starts, scoring one goal for the U's.
