Midfielder Max Porter signed for the Diamonds on a 1 year contract on 27th May 2009.
The twenty one year old midfielder started his career with Southend United, later moving to Cambridge United and then Bishop's Stortford. Most recently he has been with Barnet, where he had 51 starts, plus 12 substitute appearances, scoring once in his two seasons at Underhill.
As well as playing in midfield, Porter has featured at right-back for the Bees.
Porter was Justin Edinburgh's first signing of the 2009-10 close season from outside of the club, joining Nick McNamara, Kurt Robinson and Simon Downer who had already signed after featuring for the Diamonds during the 2009-10 season.
When asked what he expected to bring to the club, Porter commented :-
"Well I'm a bit of an all rounder, I'm mainly a midfielder - that's my preferred position, at Barnet I've played more of a holding midfielder role, but in previous season I've been in more of an attacking role and have got a few goals."
Max made his Diamonds debut on 8th August 2009 as a substitute in the 2-0 defeat by Salisbury City at Nene Park.

Following his performances during the first three months of his Diamonds career, he was called up to the England C squad for their game against Poland Under-23's in Grodzisk Wielkopolski in November 2009.

Max scored his first goal for the Diamonds on 6th March 2010 to give the Diamonds a 1-0 victory at Tamworth.
