A Striker / Right Winger, Lawrence joined the Diamonds at under-16 level after leaving Lincoln City. In July 2005 he signed his scholarship, and played a number of games until taken into hospital with a stomach virus, which kept him out for four weeks.
Despite making his reserve debut coming off the bench in the Maunsell Cup semi-final match at Rothwell Town in the 2005-06 season, Lawrence describes his proudest moment as scoring two goals against his former club in the FA Youth Cup. Despite no formal training in Athletics, Lawrence impressed in the National Schools Championship, with his blistering pace proving a challenge for defenders.
Lawrence was released by the club prior to the 2008 / 09 season.
