Midfield player Tom Shaw signed for Rushden & Diamonds after leaving the Nottingham Forest youth setup. After producing some impressive performances for the Youth team he earned the opportunity to feature in the first team, making his league debut as a substitute against Barnet at the end of the 2005 / 06 season. He was then able to make his full debut the following season at Kidderminster, and was able to keep Dave Savage out of the side on a number of occasions. With the changes in management during that season he lost his place in the side and was sent out on a loan spell to Nuneaton, but was recalled when Garry Hill took the reins, and quickly re-established his starting role in midfield and earning a new contract for season 2007/08.
During the 2007/08 season he kept a regular first team place, scoring four goals in a five game spell around Christmas. but although he was initially retained for the 2008 / 09 season he left the club by mutual consent prior to the start of that season.
