Defender / midfielder Scott Mitchell signed for Rushden & Diamonds on a one-year contract at the age of 22, prior to the start of the 2008 / 09 season.
Scott started his career at Ipswich Town as a teenage trainee, and made his debut in 2004. He then moved north in 2006 to play for Livingston, where he made over 40 appearances in Scottish Division 1.

At the start of 2008 he joined Peterborough United on a short term contract, during which period he appeared in five League 2 games, and then joined Rushden & Diamonds shortly after the end of the season.
After impressing in a number of friendly games, Scott made his first senior appearance for the Diamonds as they beat League 1 Peterborough United to win the NFA Maunsell Cup Final on 26th July 2008.
In September - Mitchell went on loan to Blue Square North side Kings Lynn originally until January 2009, but the deal was made permanent in October 2008.
