Justin Edinburgh: We'll work hard midweek

Posted on: Fri 10 Sep 2010

We spoke to Justin Edinburgh on Monday afternoon about Saturday's loss to York, and a half-term report as the Diamonds first month of the season elapses.

Disappointing result on Saturday, how do you get the players back up for it after that?

Quite easily, its only one defeat off the back of three very, very good victories. It's always tough when you have back-to-back away games, sometimes they're a little bit unkind in terms of the amount of travelling we've had to do so early in the season.

But it's a setback. Obviously we're always disappointed to lose, I thought we were always in the game, players worked very hard, I certainly thought we let ourselves down in terms of possession and the way we passed the ball. Thought it was very poor, bad as I've seen us for a long while.

We just we had so many players off their game in terms of in possession of the ball, thought we worked hard, matched them.

But its quite easy to get them back up, we've got good week, we'll work hard. We've obviously worked this morning, looked through the game from Saturday in terms of what we need to do better in terms of possession. But yeah there's no problems, we're fine and we'll look forward to Saturday's game.

This is one calendar month into the season now. How do you think that first month's gone in terms of still being in that chasing pack?

Yeah, I think obviously home form's been excellent.

We've certainly been disappointed with not collecting as many points as we should have done on away travels but I think with the month gone, certainly we're in the pack.

I, like most managers, feel we should have more points on the board. We progressing, but maybe just look a little bit at second half performances away from home, that if we improve on that, we'll start to have a better away form than we're showing at present.
