Ryan Charles: Great win for the lads

Posted on: Tue 31 Aug 2010

Ryan that was an empathetic victory in the end.

Yeah, definitely a great win for the lads, obviously we just went out there from the word go and just wanted to pressure them and obviously got our rewards from there, a full on victory.

And you, your first goal for the club.

Yeah, definitely. All I care about is winning really, if I get a goal in a goal, obviously I'm even more happy. I'm here to score goals and work hard for the team and progress us up the league.

Your partnership with Rene Howe, that's been three games now but how was that game?

Yeah, me and Ren seem to have a bit of understanding together and first thing we do when we get on the pitch is give 110% and the rest all comes together at the moment. We seem to link up and know each other's movement before the ball's even close. So hopefully throughout the season we can get this partnership going.

1-0 up at half time, goal early in the second half, obviously against. It's all to do again isn't it?

Yeah, exactly, I think all the lads kept their heads up and just kept going, just kept doing what we were doing in the first half. It isn't good coming out from half time and them scoring but as the second goal went in we started scoring more and more.

And you scored the second goal, and describe that for us.

Just obviously opened up for me, the defender tried reading me but I went the other way and slotted it in. I've been getting a lot of banter because the last game I tried chipping the keeper and it weren't a very good effort so I've been under a lot of pressure to score! It's good to get my first goal, but it's the first of many.

Do you set yourself targets throughout the season?

I want to get over 15 goals this season but obviously all I care about is the team doing well, so if we can get up there and repeat what we did last season and go one more further, that'll be a lot better.

Monday, a nice little trip, you know the place. Now you've got this one out of the way, you must be looking forward to it

Yeah, I'm just taking every game as it comes really. I just want to get out there, work hard and score goals to help the team. I was at Kettering a bit on loan, I didn't mind it there to be honest , but obviously it's a massive rivalry, I'm a Rushden & Diamonds player now and I just want to beat everyone, beat Kettering, just as much as the fans and players want to do.
