Justin Edinburgh: I'm really pleased with the players
Justin, that was a cruel way to end a game like that?
Yes, very freakish - something I hadn't seen before, and probably won't see again - Michael has cleared the ball 25 yards out and it's hit their player and gone in to the top corner.
I thought we were very good in the first half, bearing in mind we played last night and a lot of the lads were playing their second game in two days, whereas Shrewsbury had had a longer rest. I thought we were excellent in the first half with our movement and passing. I thought Ryan Charles, Sam Smith and Lee Tomlin up-front were outstanding with Alan Power again playing well. Matt Johnson made some great runs from midfield and the back four looking solid. We had a little spell in the second half where we chased it a bit, but with only three subs allowed we had a few tired legs out there, but overall this week and this tournament has served its purpose. I'm really pleased with the players - I thought they were really good tonight.
You had to make quite a lot of changes in defence - one even before the game kicked off?
Yes, Jamie Day trained this morning and felt OK, but when he came up for the warm-up it tightened up again, and we weren't going to take any risks, so we had to use Kurt Robinson who had played 90 minutes last night, buthe was carrying a knock, so we only gave him 45 minutes. We ended up with Max Porter at right back when Shane Huke had to go off, so I can't ask any more of the players. With a makeshift back four it's a wicked goal to lose the game to.
Some good saves from Dale Roberts too?
Yes, Dale made some good saves, and their keeper did well too.
We came here to win the competition, and haven't been able to progress, so that's disappointing, but it's not through how we played, it was an unfortunate goal that knocked us out.
What are the plans now?
We'll train tomorrow morning, have a warm down and make use of the swimming pool at the hotel before setting off home. The lads will have Saturday and Sunday off before coming back in on Monday ready for the following week.
Thank You.
