Did you and the squad get the credit you deserved in terms of the budget that Rushden & Diamonds had last season?
I think from people around the football club, the supporters and the media, I think we did because everyone knew the truth and the size of the task that we completed. If I'm honest we're not really worried about anyone else near the squad, we'll stick together and set ourselves internal targets and we won't let anyone else know them because if you go out shouting on the rooftops of what you're going to do and where you're going to finish, then you leave yourself open, but I know that this group of players are ambitious, have got a drive and a desire and the ones that I've brought in match that, so we won't go down without a fight.
Crawley are obviously the one everyone's talking about in this division, do you think money buys success at this level?
Well to be fair to Steve Evans, I think he's bought wisely, he's bought what he knows, he hasn't gone and wasted his money on players from the championship and division one, he's brought good players from this level and the one above, of course it doesn't always guarantee success, nothing does but it will give Steve a good opportunity to put a squad together that's going to challenge amongst a lot of other teams such as Grimsby, Luton, Kettering I hear are spending quite a lot of money wages wise and Fleetwood our first opponents have got a big squad and are paying vast amounts of wages, so I think certainly this year is going to be tougher than last year but we all like a challenge, that's what we stay in this business for and that's what these players are going to work hard to do as again we're not fancied but that's what we like.
