Rushden & Diamonds have added further to their squad ahead of the 2010/11 Blue Square Bet Premier season, after agreeing the signing of Alan Power, most recently with League One side Hartlepool United.
Alan will sign for the Diamonds on July 1st 2010 once his Hartlepool contract has expired.
The 22 year old Irish midfielder started his career with Nottingham Forest, becoming captain of their reserve side, and gaining several caps at Youth and Under 21 level for the Republic of Ireland. Power also spent 3 months on loan at Grays Athletic during his time at Forest.
Power was quickly snapped up by Hartlepool after being released from the City Ground, making several appearances for the first team in a competitive midfield.
Manager Justin Edinburgh commented on the signing "I worked with Alan when I was at Grays, taking him on loan from Nottingham Forest, he played for 8 or 9 games and was outstanding. So I know he's more than capable of performing at this level, he's had a very good upbringing in the Nottingham Forest academy and I know that the fans will warm to him for his all action displays.
He used to partner Mark Byrne in central midfield in the Nottingham Forest reserves, not to compare people to each other but they are very similar players in their style of action and all round displays, so I'm delighted to have him on board. I think he feels from the two years of football when he signed at Hartlepool he hasn't really had his break, so there's a hunger and desire to get going, so he's another fantastic addition to the squad."
