Rushden & Diamonds have added to their squad ahead of the 2010/11 Blue Square Bet Premier season, bringing in 20 year old midfielder Matt Johnson, most recently with Ryman League Premier side Aveley F.C.

After promotion to the Ryman Premier in the 2008/09 season, for the first time in their history, Aveley continued that good form last season, finishing 3^rd in the League, narrowly losing to Boreham Wood in the playoffs.

Manager Justin Edinburgh spoke about the midfielder saying "Matt won the clean sweep of almost everything last year in terms of the club awards, Managers player of the season and Supporters player of the season.

He's an all action, competitive, combative, strong in the tackle, 6 foot plus midfield player."
