Justin Edinburgh: Three New Signings Lined Up

Posted on: Fri 04 Jun 2010

We spoke to Justin Edinburgh about how the hunt for players is shaping up this summer.

I've got three players lined up which people might see as low-key signings, two are from the lower leagues, one is from another Conference side. They're young boys who I've had watched and whose names have been bought to my attention. We've wanted them over the course of the last few months and I think they're worthy of the opportunity at this level.

They're not going to be big name signings - but we didn't make big name signings last year, I think people know me and trust me enough to be a good judge of a player and I think they'll be very good additions to the squad.

One is an attacking midfielder, one's an all action midfield player, very big and physically strong and the other a striker/winger, we'll be looking to tie those up when I get back from holiday in a weeks time.

I've been tracking them for a while, they'll all be good additions to the squad, in terms of the fact that we'd lost one or two of the younger members of our squad, so its nice to have these on their way to make numbers right. I think we need another four or five players to come in across the board.

There's nothing to say all three of those players can't make it into the starting line-up come the start of the season, because they're all capable of doing that.

These three have all basically agreed, plus there are others we're talking to, but its one of those where I can't really put a time on it - we're speaking; some players are in early stages, some are nearing an end really.

I've been in football long enough to know that until its done and dusted there's no point announcing who it is, because I've seen it happen where all of a sudden someone else gets wind of it and things change, then your left with egg on your face.

www.thediamondsfc.com will have all the info about any signings and re-signings, once they are confirmed.
