Rushden & Diamonds players Dale Roberts and Max Porter were in action for England C yesterday as they won an important International Challenge Trophy fixture at the RSC Ground in Waterford against The Republic of Ireland Under 23s.

Wrexham's Andy Fleming opened the scoring for England on 37 minutes, set up by Max Porter to give the visitors the advantage.

Max Porter got on the scoresheet after 63 minutes, shooting home a Tom Cadmore flick from a corner.

All smiles as Porter's goal proves decisive

The Republic of Ireland got one back on 71 minutes from Paddy Madden - but late pressure failed to yield a goal and England won 2-1 to give them a huge advantage in the tournament.
