Justin Edinburgh: We got a grip of the game in the Second Half
Justin, a good game ?
It was certainly everything I thought the game would be. It was fast, competitive, end-to-end and a good game. If I described it, it would be as a "game of two halves".
With Oxford being the better side in the first half, you certainly came out fighting in the second, and scored a good goal via Mark Byrne ?
Yes, they started very brightly, and I thought they pinned us back, forcing the game, and they were in control of it. We had some harsh words at half-time about how we'd got a little overawed with the occasion and the atmosphere, so we spoke about one or two things. I thought we got a grip of the game in the second half, and had more of the lions share of possession in that half. Overall, I think we are worthy of a draw, and it was a great finish from Byrne.
Looking ahead to the game on Monday, I've felt Diamonds have played better away from home - you can go and win that one can't you ?
That's got to be our approach. When we were 1-0 down at half-time, I said to the boys "don't chase it, don't be gung ho" because, over the years in playoffs, teams have been pretty successful in turning around deficits in the first leg, so we knew that even if we'd have lost 1-0 tonight we could have still gone there with a chance. Our away record has been very good this year, and we know we are going to a club with a fantastic home record, so I'm sure we are in for a very good game.
Finally, any injury problems from tonight ?
Not really. We had one or two tired legs. Simon Downer hasn't played as regularly as he'd have liked, and he got cramp at the end, and the same for Lee Tomlin and Craig Farrell who probably weren't at their sharpest. I thought Lee came into the game in the second half and affected it, and was influential, but otherwise we didn't pick up any injuries, and will prepare tomorrow and look forwards to Monday.
Thank you very much.
