Justin Edinburgh: A massive achievement for the club

Posted on: Tue 13 Apr 2010

Justin, you got the three points that made the playoffs a mathematical certainty!

Yeah, fantastic achievement from a top-class group of footballers, I'm absolutely delighted for them and told them rightly so in the dressing room. It was a nervy first half, but I thought second half we were very, very good and worthy of our win.

And Aaron O'Connor -  another player that hasn't scored for a little while comes up with two goals.

Yeah, thought he was immense today. He's been quiet of late in terms of scoring but I know what he brings, I know him from old. His work rate's phenomenal and I thought he led the line on his own first half.

We took a gamble with Tommo and Craig. Tommo's old injury's ok but he rolled his ankle, Faz (Farrell) maybe was struggling a bit, but I thought Az (O'Connor), start to finish was outstanding today and rightly so man of the match.

And under the Edinburgh system, another clean sheet.

Yep, pleased with that, I thought we deserved that. Kept them at bay and outside our box, one little mistake there from Simon at the end, but great reaction save from Dale and it's another home win and three more valuable points that took us over that line.

I feel it's a massive achievement for this club to reach the playoffs and we go in as underdogs, there's no doubt about that, we've overachieved already, and we're going to look forward to the home and away leg, whoever we play.

I know you'll need time for this to set in but you've got there now, there's nobody that can take that from you but you've still got three go, so in that respect you've still got some thinking to do about how you structure the team around those games.

Yes, I think, first things first, we'll enjoy this evening. We've got another game on Tuesday night but you see the likes of Cliff and Sam who have come in today, and Rob Wolleaston's knocking on the door and we had some excellent players who didn't even get a strip today.

So we've got strength in depth, and those players will play a part and don't want to make too many changes because I know and I like to think we can continue this unbeaten run to the end of the season and take good momentum into the playoffs.

Now you'll hope to get as high as possible within the five, and that's clearly what you'll aim to do.

It's a massive achievement - if we finish fifth, we finish fifth. I think many people stood here at the start of the season and if we'd finished top ten, then it would have been an achievement. I want these players to enjoy it but to continue the form that they are showing.
