We spoke to Justin Edinburgh about the season as a whole - and the push for the playoffs ahead of Saturday's game against Ebbsfleet - which could see the Diamonds confirmed with a playoff place.
You're that close now, but it'll be a huge achievement now, especially with two weeks before the end of the season to actually cement that place.
I think it would be a fantastic achievement for a group of players that from the day they arrived back from pre season have given nothing less than a hundred percent, I think that the fans appreciate that, as I certainly do. Amongst the group, there's big trust and a great spirit and a lot of the games this season have taken us over the line and collected us three points. So if we could do it on Saturday with two weeks to spare, it'll be a fantastic achievement and one that I'd be delighted with and a team that I'd be proud of.
One of your proudest achievements?
Yeah if we get there Saturday, it would be the biggest achievement in my football management and possibly with no one really fancying us at the start of the season, my biggest achievement.
Including cup finals?
I think as a player, you control your own performances and you're playing a part, I think you can go to challenging winning honours as I did as a player but I've got to get there and witness that feeling first, so first things first we've got to concentrate solely on this Saturday, it's going to be a tough game for both sides so as I said I prefer to play in these games, the ones at Wimbledon and Kettering were good games and I felt that those teams could come at us and play their normal game whereas in the last two games, Crawley came and played five across the middle of the park and Kidderminster did the same and both teams marked our full backs. So it was a difficult last two games but two valuable points and again we extend our unbeaten run.
Any preference to who you'd like to go up against in the playoffs?
No, not at all and that's me being honest, whoever you come up against you've got to beat, we've got a home and an away tie so there's no advantage or disadvantage and when we come to look at it, there'll be teams going into it with momentum, some with good form and others not so good form. I've always watched playoffs and been involved in playoffs and there's always a surprise result or team that creep up and win it.
Luton have been scoring lots of goals and then all of a sudden, York last night scored five against Wimbledon as well
Yeah that's it, everyone is scoring goals, I think Luton have overtaken us now in the scoring charts but we're still joint second top goalscorers so that's a fantastic achievement and we're now conceding a lot less than we were at the start of the season, but I feel that everyone who'll go into the playoffs will undoubtedly feel that they can go on to win it which is rightly so and we'll be no different if we get there.
