Justin Edinburgh: Squad News

Posted on: Fri 12 Mar 2010

Will Max take over that defensive role as he did on Wednesday with Patto coming on?

He's obviously the first candidate unless we were to revert our system but it's something Michael and me spoke about this morning and we will do again today before we go to Tamworth.

Is there anyone not available in terms of injury?

Rob's trained this morning so tomorrow morning we'll assess if he's had a reaction and see whether he can play on Saturday.

Is that his hamstring?

Yeah, just above his knee. I feel for the boy because it's been a tough season for him, no fault of his own as these things happen. Hopefully he can recover in time so he can make an impact at the end of the season.

Any other doubts?

No everyone else is fit, we're lucky that we came through unscathed because we had to throw legs and bodies in the way on Wednesday playing for an hour with ten men and the clean sheet was testament to those players.

What do you make of Tamworth then, you saw them a couple of weeks ago against Kettering, have you seen them any other time?

I've see them a couple of times this year funnily enough and I think last week was a one off, must have been a low par performance because they've had some good results since and I thought when they came here they played well and are a good football team, I know they're going to try and play and if you give them time and space they can hurt. They've got some good players in their side, they trust and know one another, gained promotion last year and got themselves into a good position to maintain their status next season but we can't go there anymore confident than we already are and as long as we approach it correctly then we'll give them a good game.

You're in fourth even when Chester's points are knocked off as well so you've put yourselves right in there, twenty more points and you might be there but it's obviously not that easy.

No but I spoke on Wednesday saying that we needed to capitalise on results that went for us, I asked the question and set a test for the players. I keep repeating myself but anything these players achieve this season, they completely deserve because they've been outstanding. It's a small group of players that are prepared to give that little bit extra for one another and Wednesday was a big result; even at the weekend I thought it was a good result against the team with the best away record in the country so to back it up with an away 1-0 victory with ten men made it even sweeter with the results on Tuesday.
