We talked to Aaron O'Connor after the 0-0 draw with local rivals Kettering.
There weren't many clear cut chances in the game and probably the best chance fell to me, I was quite confident, and just to see it hit the post was a bit disappointing but we fought throughout the game, could have maybe created more chances, but the pitch didn't help and I don't know, maybe the occasion meant a few players got caught up in it. We didn't play as well as we know we can. But it's a point gained and another clean sheet, and I think at home now, that's something like seven or eight games, six wins and a couple of draws, or something, its not bad form, so we want to keep it going.
First half you created a lot more, you had quite a few chances.
Yeah, I think the first was better than the second. Tommo had a couple, I had another shot and the keeper saved. Decent strikes, but again, nothing clear cut, it was one of those games where as soon as everything got into the final third, just a little more quality maybe or just a little spark or something was needed and that was how it was throughout the whole game really.
Do reckon overall they were tough to break down?
Yeah, it was a scrap, we knew was going to be a scrap, but obviously we know how much it means to people and it was always going to be one of them games where tackles where flying in. So we knew we had to come here and battle, and if we had won the battle, then get the ball down and play. We know that if we can play, can get the ball down and move teams about, that we can open up any team in this league. And I think maybe on occasions we did maybe open them up a bit, but not enough. Overall, I think it was a battle and a draw's probably a fair result.
And you take that. Obvious Oxford wasn't just, so you're in good form and going into two away games.
Yeah, the manager's said to us in the past after we came to the end of a good run with a defeat, like we did at Oxford, its usually taken us a while to get back on, get points back again on the board. Last time we went on a seven, eight game run, it took us three defeats to get going again, so obviously this is a point gained and we see it as a positive step, a step in the right direction. We go to Histon on Wednesday, and try to get three points there, four points out of them two games won't be a bad return.
Wednesday will be another battle.
Yeah, it probably will be. We know what their pitch is like, we know what to expect when you go down there, you know what to expect, so we'll be fully prepared for the battle and if we come off there with anything, we'll be happy.
