Justin Edinburgh: We've built up continuity and morale
We spoke to Justin Edinburgh ahead of Saturday's away game at Grays Athletic
Are those players that attracted interest in the transfer window in the right mindset for the second half of the season?
Of course. Let's not be unrealistic, they're all ambitious boys who all want to further themselves and better themselves, it's only a matter of time til they go on and play at a higher level and what we're saying now is can we achieve it at Rushden & Diamonds? Nineteen games left and if we continue the form we've shown then there's a possibility of that and who knows, they could be a league player with Rushden this time next year. They're good lads and are level headed, have got good grounding and we've spoken individually with Tommo and he just needs to continue the form that he's shown and we'll have to see what happens in the summer for him.
Was it just with Lee then, the individual chat?
Yeah, there's been an enormous amount of speculation for the last three or four months and I think it's credit to Lee that he's shown great maturity and the performances he's continued to produce have been excellent and like I said, all he can do is let the football do the talking and he's good enough and it will only be a matter of time before he or we progress and he'll be playing at a higher level.
Does keeping your top players give confidence to the rest of the squad seeing that they're keeping these top players and that this strong squad is all staying together?
Well I think we look at it as not as individuals but a unit and I think Lee will be first to recognise it as without the other members of his team then he wouldn't be putting in the performances that he is. It's obviously refreshing for all of us that no one departed, we've built up a good continuity and good morale round the club of late and we want that to continue and we've got one aim and focus now and that's to win as many games as we can between now and the end of the season.
