Michael Stone: Keep The Form Going
You must be looking forward to a chance to make it six wins in a row?
Its going to be a tough game, Histon had a slow start to the season, but they have gone on a very good run recently. Over their last 8-10 games they have been very strong and they have moved right up the league table. The Manager and I went to watch them in a game against Peterborough the other week and they knocked the ball around very confidently on the night against a strong Peterborough side and played very well and we came away with no doubts that this will be a very tough game for us, they have gone to Mansfield in their last match and got a very useful point, and it was only in the dying seconds that Mansfield equalised. We don't under estimate them at all, we know we are going to have to play as well as we have been, if not better to maintain that run.
One thing about Histon is their physical aerial way of playing, but you've got to deal with that.
I'd actually say that seemed like it was very much the influence of John Beck, but John Beck no longer works for the club and if you speak to people in and around the club they say, and from what we saw, they're playing very much more on the ground and less reliant on set pieces and direct play, so I would actually say that there a pretty different Histon team, they have obviously lost Simpson to Peterborough, but they've still got enough there, the centre forward, the big striker Wright, and the full back have both been looked at by Peterborough - so they are still attracting interest.
I think they will be a different Histon outfit to play against which will suit us because we're more a passing side and it will be a good game for the spectators.
You must be full of confidence looking to keep that run going at home
The players are full of confidence, there are one or two returning, so there's competition for places.
They know the message the manager sent out from the beginning is that that shirt has to be earned week in and week out. So on Saturday it'll be fresh again - no one earns bonus points for good form, the match starts at 0-0 when the whistle goes and each and every player will have to maintain their form to earn the right to keep that shirt for the very next game. That's the challenge, that's the gauntlet thrown down to them; keep the form going, keep getting better and see where it can take us.
