Justin Edinburgh: The players won't take their eye off things

Posted on: Fri 13 Nov 2009

Extra recognition with another two Diamonds Players added to the England C Squad, you've got a quarter of the squad now.

Yeah, it was deserved, I was a bit disappointment that they didn't get the initial call up, but any time you get to represent your country at any level is a privilege. I told them both that someone else's loss is your gain and hope they leave a lasting impression on the manager, so that next the squad is announced they are in the original squad. Also feel that Kurt Robinson isn't too far away from a call up as well, Kurt has shown maturity and his performances have been good this season.

Is he the same age as Jack Ainsley, who you brought in on loan last week?

Ainsley is a year younger and they have played together before, Jack knows Reidy as well, they've played for England Youths together, so he knows 1 or 2 faces around and that will help him settle in.

Obviously the place is buzzing at the minute, you've had that win, five on the trot now. I suppose in a way you've got to forget about the FA Cup, you've got the League to concentrate on now

Yeah, we spoke about that earlier on, me and Michael with the players. We've got three massively important League games between now and then. It's a cliché when you look at it, but if the team don't perform then that Cup game will seem a long way away. So its an incentive for the players to continue the form they've had, but I wouldn't expect this group of players to take their eye off the games coming up anyway.

At the end of the day that's the priority, a cup run is nice but the League is most important?

Yeah, we are in the pack chasing for the playoffs, we're not in there but we are on the coattails of two or three. We want to continue that. It's a difficult game coming up, Histon are not easy opponents to play against, they've had a good run of late, so its going to be a tough game.
