Justin Edinburgh: We'll have to be on top of our game

Posted on: Mon 09 Nov 2009

You sent to watch Hinckley on Monday, what did you make of them?

Yeah they're a good outfit, they were comfortable winners in the game. They had a good togetherness about them; we're going to have to certainly be on top of our game to get through to the next stage.

They are on a good run actually, over the last dozen or so games I think they've only lost one, so equally they're confident as you are

Yes, we are, but we're not up against a team that's got here because of luck. They're on a good run, they've scored goals in the ties that they've played in. They look defensively sound and compact, so if we are to succeed and go through then we'll have to be as thoroughly professional as we were when we went to Workington in the last round.

Do you think they'll come here to shut up shop?

I don't know, maybe if their results had been a little bit different than they had they may have done so, but they're full of confidence, they'll probably be coming here thinking they can go for it. So, I expect them to come out of the traps quick, get at us in the first fifteen or twenty minutes. Anyone who's coming to the game just to turn up and see us waltz it, we need the crowd to play their part - the crowd will have to be patient, vocal and get behind us because it's going to be a tough game.

They beat Histon in the last round, that says it all really that they're capable of doing that.

They've come up against an opposition at our level and they've dispatched them, so they won't fear us that's for sure. They will respect us, like we will, we'll show them the respect they deserve. They've dealt with a club from our level and got through 2-1, so there may be a little bit there, so maybe they'll think they can come out and attack us rather than come and stifle us.

Do you think far ahead in terms of round two, round three?

No, we've got a job in hand to do. You can quite easily get carried away and think we're through to round two, if we get there we are only one round away from a potential Championship or Premiership club. That would be silly, and that won't happen because if you take your eye from the job in hand you get unstuck, so No, we're not looking any further beyond Hinckley, and rightly so.
