Kurt Robinson: They'll raise their game

Posted on: Mon 26 Oct 2009

So Kurt, Saturday is your FA Cup debut

Yeah it is, first time I've played in the competition, I'm looking forward to it, it'll be the first competitive cup I've played in.

When you are growing up its always something you want to do - the magic of the cup people talk about, you can watch it on the tv.

Yeah it's the one everyone talks about. From the small teams right up to the Premiership anyone can win it and I think it's a good cup to play in

And you can get drawn against anybody, as the long trip proves, you've got probably the longest trip you could have got

Yeah that's good, we don't mind it anyway -it gives us a chance to mix in with the boys and have a laugh at the hotel and on the way. So it doesn't really matter where we play we'll get the job done.

Do you know much about them yet?

We haven't spoken much about them yet, we'll go through it on Friday (this interview was on Thursday) - I don't know much about them other than I've spoken to Beeky (Jake Beecroft), who has played them whilst on loan at Ilkeston) about them, but that's about it.

Its just a case of going out there and like you said getting the job done, a lower league team are bound to raise themselves for the occasion

Yeah, they'll raise their game, we just need to make sure we raise our game as we would any other game to make sure we win the game, with no problems. We just need to play well as a team and score goals.

Michael spoke during the week about having the right attitude, that's the main thing not to underestimate anyone

Yes it is, if we underestimate teams such as who we're playing it'll be our downfall, but we've just got to realise its going to be a harder game, its going to be a different game - it'll be more physical football.

You don't mind that though do you?

No - I prefer it!

I was going to say - you can certainly look after yourself can't you, maybe you'll be looking for that goal

Yeah - I'd like an FA Cup goal to be honest - ahh the last few games I've been getting a bit wound up looking for that goal - but its on its way!

Have you got that celebration ready yet?

Me and Osano are sorting something out - I think there'll be no celebration by the time it comes because it'll be more relief at having scored.

You are on a good run at the moment after that little bad spell, that keeps confidence

They've blown over those three games that we didn't do so well in, the past few weeks have been rally good and I think we can carry it on, just keep winning.

How is it for you with Lee Tomlin's current form?

I love playing with him down the left, I give him the ball and he knows what I want and I like watching him do what he does. He takes players away from my area when I have the ball and I do the same for him. It helps in finding that space, he's passing me the ball so I've got no problems. I think we've got a good left hand side going, I'm really happy with the way Tommo and me are working.
