Lee Tomlin : its good to get goals

Posted on: Wed 16 Sep 2009

Lee have you ever played in a game like that before?

I don't think I have! It was entertaining but I think today we let too many goals in.

We will look at the video Monday but came three times from being down and it shows the character in this team.

We just need to sort a few things out. We went 0-0 on Tuesday and we won 5-4 today.

We're a bit up and down at the minute we need consistency in the team. We need to talk a lot more but you could tell today we were all behind each other, so we need to help each other out and then we can go on and do better things.

From your point of view, you scored two, you made three. Man of the match as well. You are perhaps in your best form at Rushden & Diamonds at the moment.

Yeah I think so. The gaffer's behind me which is good and the main thing. The team's not a one man show we work as a team. They're the one who set me up or give me the ball and I set people up. It's just not individuals, it's a team game.

And two goals today. Are you now officially the penalty taker at the club?

When I crossed it, it when in and I thought the referee had given the goal which I was more happy about, but then he's called it back and I've just got the ball. Fazza (Craig Farrell) wasn't on and I thought to just put it where I do in training.

The one criticism of you in the past is maybe the number of goals you haven't scored, but potentially could have scored. You've already scored 3 this season, you've started in a rich vein of form. If you continue that you might be attracting scout again.

As a midfielder, it's always good to get goals. It's not as easy as strikers obviously. But as a midfielder, you look to get ten to fifteen goals.

Now sixteen goals in two Saturdays, a game against Mansfield next week. From your point of view, the team are scoring goals at will. So it's a good team to play in, more importantly easy for you, its your kind of game.

I just take every game as it comes. It'll be a tough game, we've all got to be mentally right for it and prepared 100% for it.
