Simon Downer has spoken to Diamonds TV about his thoughts on signing for the Diamonds, the captaincy issue, commuting from London, pre-season training, and his thoughts on the new signings at the club, including playing alongside Jamie Stuart.

Speaking to Simon Parsell, Simon noted that Jamie Stuart was his captain at Grays, and added: "I have a bit of a superstition about being a captain anyway, as last time I was captain I got injured, so I don't really like the armband." He then added "Me and Jamie get on well, we know how each other play, and I think it's important to have partnerships in the team, especially at the back."

Simon P then asked about his thoughts on signing for the Diamonds, noting how impressed people had been with his performances at Nene Park to date, to which the defender replied "it's a good club, and I get on well with Justin, the Chairman and the boys, and I feel happy and comfortable here, so I decided to sign on again."

Regarding the pre-season friendlies, Simon observed he was looking forward to them: "all the boys prefer it, rather than running around - once the matches come then hopefully the running will ease down a bit, and you get your match fitness playing matches."

You can also hear Simon's thoughts on the travel up from London, why Neil Cousins always makes him late, the first morning of pre-season training, and more thoughts on the latest arrivals at the club, in the full interview online on DiamondsTV, via the SoccerX website, at http://www.soccerx.co.uk/DiamondsTVdowner.htm
