Max Porter
Max Porter was the first to come here from Barnet, he's a good modern day midfield player as far as I'm concerned, he's energetic, box to box and has played a few games for Barnet's first team as well. I think that gives us a heads up, we're not blooding this boy, he's got 60 league games under his belt, so he's the ideal player we're looking for. I think another big plus was Simon Downer re-signing for another season, we know what qualities he brings and the kind of player he is so I'm delighted with that.
Craig Farrell
I spoke with Michael Rankine at the end of last season and I think the best scenario came out of it in that he moved on and we received a good transfer fee, and an excellent player in Craig Farrell. Someone described him as a player who would chase an empty crisp packet, they are the kind of people I like, he's hard working, very clever in and around the box and he certainly helped Oxford go on their run at the latter part of the season.
Simon Parsell added "I don't want to curse him, but I've seen him play a few times and he is certainly a player who I've often thought runs his heart out, he often reminds me of Duane Darby in that he's hard working, holds the ball up and can sniff a goal out of the little tap ins, the bread and butter goals."
Well speaking to people around this football club about Duane Darby and if Craig can do even a bit of what Duane did here, then I'm sure that the fans here will hold him in high esteem and and will take him into their hearts and I think that's what he will do.
Aaron O'Connor
The other striker we bought in Aaron O'Connor, is very athletic, has a great spring on him, has two great feet and I think he'll have a lot to prove as he was here two or three seasons ago and got rejected. Its funny how things go in cycles and he's back, he'll feel he's back where he belongs.
Both are a good age, Craig has League experience with Carlisle and is still not even in his prime yet, Aaron is coming into his fourth season in the Conference now. They're the kind of players we are making our prime people, and have managed to capture, so I'm delighted.
Matt Pattison
Then we've got Matt Pattison, he only looks about seventeen but he's got experience, he's had the Woking experience with relegation and I'm sure that's something he won't want to repeat, so again he's an experienced campaigner. It's his fourth season in the Conference, so he knows the League well, he knows the level, he had a very disappointing season last year with Woking on a personal note because the year before he hit the league by storm, scoring ten goals with nine or ten assists. For a right midfield players that's a phenomenal return, he'll be letting the boys know what its like at the wrong end of the table and how things can quickly turn around for you.
