Michael Corcoran Signs New Contract
Rushden & Diamonds Defender / Midfield Player Michael Corcoran has signed a new contract with the club until the end of the 2009/2010 season.
The twenty year old Northern Ireland born defender / midfield player joined Rushden & Diamonds from Oxford United mid-way through the 2007 / 08 season. After impressing during the remainder of that season the Diamonds initially took out the extension option on his contract to retain him for the current season.
Corcoran started his career at Cardiff City, working up through the youth system and becoming a youth international player for Northern Ireland before moving to Oxford, initially on loan, and then signing permanently at the Kassam Stadium in May 2007. In the first part of the 2007 / 08 season, he made 14 starts, scoring one goal for the U's. In the remainder of the 2007/08 season he appeared 17 times for the Diamonds, and has appeared in both of the Diamonds Blue Square Premier games this season.
Manager Garry Hill confirmed how well Michael had progressed since joining the club, and had continued to impress him during the pre-season games and the first two Blue Square Premier games.
