Simeon Jackson moves to Gillingham
For £150,000
Striker Simeon Jackson has today completed a move to League One Club, Gillingham, for £150,000.The two clubs agreed on a transfer fee earlier this afternoon with the striker passing a medical and signing a contract at the Priestfield Stadium earlier this evening.
The twenty year old striker has been the subject of much interest from Football League teams throughout the January transfer window, with the forward being linked to a number of Clubs.
Jackson started his career with the youth setup at Gillingham, before being picked up by Dulwich Hamlet and then the Diamonds youth team. After progressing through the youth ranks, Jackson made his debut under Ernie Tippett, in an away fixture at Northampton Town, quickly becoming a fans favourite with his regular scoring.
This is not the first time Jackson has attracted interest at a higher level. In 2005 both Manchester United and Manchester City expressed an interest in the youngster, offering the striker trials at the Premiership outfits. Simeon has also featured on the international stage at the FIFA Under 20 World Cup in Canada during July last year.
We would like to thank 'Jacko' for his services throughout the years at Rushden & Diamonds and we wish him all the very best at Gillingham.
