Michael, was that the kind of result and more importantly the response you needed from Tuesday night?
I'm absolutely delighted with that, it was an excellent performance and exactly what we needed to see after Tuesday night. We spoke during the week as a squad about what we want to achieve here this season and what we believe we're capable of achieving with the players at the club and we can use this defeat at Workington as an opportunity and a trigger to get this season going and now with a run of matches, Saturday and Tuesday and consecutive games at home in the space of four days is what we have, so we said this is going to have to be the start of something if we're serious about moving forward, so delighted with that.
Today you brought back Rob Wolleaston after a lengthy period out and replace Max Porter, how do you think he did?
Max was unlucky to be fair to get left out, he's been tremendous but we just felt that Wolly might just give us something a bit different today with his runs and advance with the ball, so first of all I'm pleased to see him start a football match again, he's been working very hard, he probably would have liked to have to have had two or three more games on his belt, maybe behind closed door games building his fitness levels up but he's come out today and done very well getting up to the 60th minute period which is what we wanted him to get to and luckily we were in control of the game as well to be able to bring him off at the right time and build him up for the next few games which are going to come thick and fast.
In the second half, I don't know what Justin said to them but you got the right response coming into the second half.
Justin said clearly that this could either go two ways. Either we can stand still and watch this game and it might go 1-0 or it could be a 1-1 or we step out there in the second half and make sure we dictate the result and outcome of this game. That was his clear instruction, go out there, attack on the front foot right from the start, kill the game off with a second goal and a third goal if we can and then we know the points are safe and we're in control of things, don't let it settle at 1-0 and it becomes nervy and anything can happen with that scoreline. I think the boys responded fantastically well, they obviously scored an early goal in the second half making them a bit more comfortable in possession of the ball and then they've hit the third and fourth so delighted.
One player that did come back into the squad and came on in the second half was Sam Smith, another person in that forward line and obviously a good opportunity today baring in mind you were 4-0 up to introduce him again.
Really pleased with Sam's attitude for a start, he's gone away to Hinckley, scored a few goals, came back, he looked sharp in training, he's also played on the wide positions and you could see that with his first touch of the ball, the pace he had and the way we're playing at the moment, obviously with an opportunity to play those positions slightly wider from the front man, it takes him out of the center of the pitch and he's very comfortable with that so it almost opens up a couple of new doors for Sam to see whether he can excel there. He's a player we've always thought a lot of and it's nice to see him now in the business end of the season if you like.
