The Diamond Cup IX
Rushden & Diamonds, Chettle Court Rangers and Jex Rangers all triumph
The 16th and 17th May 2009, saw another successful Diamond Cup at Nene Park, despite the occasional downpour of rain.

Under 9's - Saturday 16th May 2009
Two groups of six fought it out for places in the Semi's and Finals.


Group 1:

Rushden & Diamonds A beat Rushden & Higham Utd 2-0, whilst Rushden & Diamonds B beat Knebworth Youth 'Cheetahs' on penalties.

'Rushden & Diamonds A' faced 'Rushden & Diamonds B' in the final, with the 'A team' coming out on top after a 1-1 draw led to penalties.

Under 11's - Saturday 16th May 2009
Three groups of six battled for the top two to go through to the quarter finals, with the two 3rd placed teams with the most points making up the final two quarter finalists.

The Quarter finals were:
Rushden & Diamonds A v Earls Barton
Broadway v Chettle Court Rangers A
Crawley Green v Boston B
Rushden & Diamonds B v Kettering Generals
With Earls Barton, Chettle Court A, Crawley Green and R&DFC B going through to the semi-finals, and then Chettle Court A and Crawley Green making it through to the final, Chettle Court were crowned champions, winning the final 1-0.

Under 13's - Saturday 16th May 2009
There was one large group in the Under 13's, with the top four going into a playoff for the Cup.
1 Rushden & Diamonds - 21
2 Sawston Utd Youth - 13
3 Bushey Rangers A - 13
4 Bushey Rangers B - 10
5 Ampthill Town Youth A - 10
6 Ampthill Town Youth B - 5
7 Shefford Saints - 3
8 Chettle Court Rangers - 3
The playoff semi-finals were therefore:
Rushden & Diamonds v Bushey Rangers B
Sawston Utd Youth v Bushey Rangers B
Rushden and Sawston won their respective semi-finals, with the final being won 3-0 by the Diamonds.

Under 10's - Sunday 17th May 2009
The Under 10's was two groups of six, with a lot of established youth centres, the under 10's proved a very very competitive event, with teams competing for a place in the semi-finals and then finals

1 Rotherham Utd B - 10
2 Rushden & Diamonds A - 10
3 Boston Utd B - 9
4 Histon A - 8
5 KC Cougars - 4
6 Stanwick Rovers - 0
Group 2
1 Chettle Court Rangers - 10
2 Boston Utd A - 9
3 Histon B - 9
4 Rotherham Utd A - 8
5 Rushden & Diamonds B - 7
6 Mawsley - 0
The semi-finals were:
Rotherham Utd B v Boston A
Chettle Court v Rushden & Diamonds A
Rotherham B beat Boston A 1-0, whilst Chettle Court and Rushden & Diamonds drew, with Chettle Court winning on penalties.
The final between Rotherham B and Chettle Court was a 0-0 stalemate after normal and extra time, with Chettle Court winning on a penalty shootout.

Under 12's - Sunday 17th May 2009
The Under 12's had one group of seven, and one group of six, with the top two from each group going through to semi-finals and then finals.

3 Stourport Swifts Blues - 9
4 Buckden - 4
5 F2 Elite B - 3
6 Kettering Generals Reds - 3
The semi finals were;
Jex Rangers Reds v Rushden & Diamonds B
Jex Rangers Whites v Rushden & Diamonds A
With Jex Rangers winning 1-0 in each game to set up an all Jex final as the heavens opened and the torrential rain, which had been threatening all weekend, finally came down.
In the Final, Jex Rangers Reds won 2-1, taking the trophy back to Norfolk.
