Jack started his career with Ipswich Town's Academy as a striker, although he later shifted to a defensive role and was offered a pro-deal at Portman Road in June 2009. His brother Stuart and his dad George also played for the Ipswich Academy and reserves without making first team appearances, but Jack went one better making a first team appearance in the Carling Cup against Shrewsbury in August 2009 - to date his only first team appearance, although he has also regularly featured on the bench for The Tractor Boys. The nineteen year-old central defender joined Diamonds on a two month loan deal on 6 November 2009, and was an unused substitute in the FA Cup tie against Hinckley United. He made his first senior appearance against Kettering Town in the Hillier Senior Cup on 17 November 2009, and then went on to make his Blue Square Premier debut on 1st December 2009 as a half-time substitute for Simon Downer in the game at home to York City. Jack returned to Ipswich Town on the conclusion of the loan period at the end of December 2009. On 19 November 2010, Jack went out on a one month loan to Conference side Histon.
