Striker / Right Winger Lawrence joined the Diamonds at under-16 level after leaving the Lincoln City youth set up. In July 2005 he signed his scholarship, and played a number of games until taken into hospital with a stomach virus, which kept him out for four weeks. Despite making his reserve debut coming off the bench in the Maunsell Cup semi-final match at Rothwell Town in the 2005-06 season, Lawrence describes his proudest moment as scoring two goals against his former club in the FA Youth Cup. Despite no formal training in Athletics, Lawrence impressed in the National Schools Championship, with his blistering pace proving a challenge for defenders. He signed a one year contract on 17 May 2007 at the end of his apprenticeship, and went out on loan to Corby Town on 13 September 2007, initially for three months. On his return, he went out on another loan deal, this time to Bromsgrove Rovers on 29 February 2008, until the end of the season. Lawrence was released by the club at the end of the season.

After leaving Diamonds, he joined UCL Premier Division side Boston Town in May 2008, and settled into the role of an attacking full back. On 15 June 2011, he joined UCL Premier side Holbeach United.
