He made his Premier League debut against Arsenal in April 1999. He went out on a loan spell with Stoke City in September 2000, but suffered a broken leg resulting in him being sidelined for some 18 months. During his rehabilitation, he went on loan to Tranmere Rovers in November 2002. He was released by the Rams in June 2003, joining Chesterfield for the following season. He was released in September 2004, joining Notts County briefly before arriving at Nene Park on non-contract terms on 8 November 2004. He scored the winning goal for Diamonds on his debut as they achieved a cup upset in defeating League One side Bradford City. After just two league appearances as a substitute, and the FA Cup exit against Colchester United, he moved on to Walsall before seeing out the remainder of the season with Stockport County.

In the summer of 2005, Marvin joined Lincoln City for the following season. He started the 2006/2007 season at Macclesfield Town, before joining Oxford United at the end of August 2006. In September 2007, he went on loan to Cambridge United. He was unfortunately involved in a road accident while at Cambridge, and suffered a broken leg and bruised lungs, and was released by Oxford in February 2008. After a couple of brief appearances for Kettering Town during his rehab, he joined Redditch United in January 2009. He was playing for Massey Ferguson FC of the Midland Combination Premier at the beginning of the 2009/2010 season, but before joining Northern Premier League Premier Division side Nantwich Town in December 2009. On 14 October 2010, Marvin signed for Southern League Premier Division side Hednesford Town. During his time with the Pitman, he scored 26 times in 62 appearances, before leaving the club on 9 February 2012 - signing for rivals Brackley Town the following day.
