Ricardo was a product of the youth set up at Rushden & Diamonds and despite making several pre-season performances during the summer of 2005, only went on to make two first team performaces, both against Peterborough United. He went out on work experience at Rugby Town in March 2006, but was released at the end of the season in May. He joined Lewes, with a spell on loan at Worthing, but failed to settle in. He started the 2007/08 season with Harrow Borough making 8 appearances, before joining Margate in December on non-contract forms. Having turned down a move earlier in the year, he joined Ashford Town (Mdx) in the Isthmian League Premier Division on 3 June 2008. In late March 2010, he joined fellow Ryman Premier side Carshalton Athletic, but was sidelined with injury throughout much of the 2010/2011 season.
