Tony was born in Denmark and played for several Danish clubs including Thorso Aidt IF, Randers Freja, AGF, AC Horsens, before deciding to move to England to further his career. He had played at Under-19 level for the Danish national side. He joined Southend United, and came on as substitute in their FA Cup tie with Fulham in December 1997. He joined Diamonds in November 1998 as a free agent having been released by Southend in the summer to assist in a goalkeeping crisis that had seen regular keepers Mark Gayle and Mark Smith injured. He too picked up an injury, and Ian Feuer was brought in to resolve the crisis.

After leaving Diamonds, he had a brief spell with Farnborough Town before returning to his native Denmark. He went on to play for Holstebro BK until 2005.
