Defender Jon Flower was signed by Roger Ashby for the newly formed Rushden & Diamonds after playing in the Football League for Sheffield United and Aldershot, with the latter club having folded at the end of the 1991-92 season. He had started his career at Brixworth, and had also played for Corby before getting his break in the Football League. He appeared in the Diamonds first ever game, and went on to play for the club for three seasons before moving on to Raunds Town.
