After initially joining the Club on a month's long loan from League Two side Mansfield Town, the Diamonds signed forward Chris Beardsley on a permanent deal on the eve on the Transfer Window in at the start of 2007. During his period at the Club, Chris made a total of 5 starting appearances in the league, as well as 7 as a substitute, scoring 2 league goals in the process.
After leaving the club he joined local rivals Kettering Town, via York City, and faced the Diamonds during the 2008-09 season, including playing in a midfield role during the Poppies 1-0 defeat by the Diamonds at Nene Park. On leaving the Poppies at the end of that season he joined Stevenage Borough in May 2009.
